Sexism...? What's that?

Let’s talk about sexism…
During the 2009 season of Desperate Housewives when Teri Hatcher’s character, Susan, became the owner of a bar that lured men in with the dancing pole ladies’ trick, the writers led Susan into a predicament wherein she needed to decide what to do with this bar that she inherited but never wanted in the first place.

I created an account with ABC and suggested they allow Susan to keep the bar and put some half dressed hunks in there
to lure in female customers. I suggested they “do the right thing”, so to speak, for their female viewers.
Needless to say, ABC was not pleased with my post. It was deleted from their site posthaste.
Once again, I was left asking myself, “Why is it that women’s body parts are fair game for all physical media sources, but showing a few penes continues to be problematic?!"
I personally do not see how showing a man’s pelvic area during a sexy scene is more risqué than showing a woman’s breasts.
Besides, I’m not gay! If I were, I suppose I would be elated! So, three cheers for the gay women and the straight men who receive regular doses of eye candy to satisfy their sensual sexual curiosities. But what about straight women and gay men?
Now don’t be sweating my post if you find it problematic that I have mentioned gay men and lesbian women here… Like they’re not entitled to their equal share of sensual fantasy. Any adult that pays their fees to watch television programming, go to the movies, attend theatrical productions, purchase magazines, or view internet sites rampant with sensual fervor, deserves their fair share of sensual provocation.
Now I’m just getting started… So hold on… Why don’t you?
Thanks much!

  1. I am certainly not a men basher, but I have always wondered about that as well. Anytime one brings up nudity and men, it is always assumed that nude men are aimed at a gay male audience. This has bothered me for years.

I have asked men about this: Why should we as females get turned on by other naked females but men feel uncomfortable with any kind of male skin?

The answers were interesting but too long to post here.

  2. Thanks for your comment Alexandra, and no... Men bashing has nothing to do with my points here... I simply believe that what is good for the gander is good for the goose as well... Statistics show that women, in general, have become increasingly fed up with gender-privileged one-sidedness... That post topic is in the works...

  3. Exactly. I did not think you are a men basher either, I just stated the obvious for all who read it lol.

I think that you may be on to something if you keep pursuing the one-sidedness facet of sexism, which seems an overlooked topic everywhere.
